At noon, Lorena was having a lunch break with Astrid at their usual coffee-shop. If Lorena was usually the one with a tendency to get lost in her own head in the middle of a conversation, today the roles were definitely reversed.
«Astrid.» Lorena said, trying to make her best friend going back to earth. «Astrid!» she repeated louder.
Startled at first, Astrid shook slightly her head, «Sorry, I have a lot in my mind today.»
«Yeah, I can see that. You barely said three words since the beginning of the lunch. Wanna talk about it?»
«About what?» Astrid asked, lost in her mind again.
«About what seems to worry you.» Lorena replied in a concerned tone. «It looks serious.»
«I don't want to bother you with my problem.»
«You're not going to bother me, I'm your best friend, you can tell me everything. Something happened between you and Eva?»
Astrid creased her brow, «Why do you think that?»
«Because it's mainly when it comes to this aspect of your life that you have trouble sharing what's going on in your life, even with me.» Lorena answered before she started to drink her glass of water.
«Eva proposed to me last night.» Astrid sighed.
At this revelation, Lorena almost choked on her water. «I wasn't expecting that.» She said with wide eyes.
«Neither do I.» Astrid exhaled, burying her face into her palms. «I don't know what do to.»
«What did you say to her?»
«Nothing.» Astrid sighed, biting her fingernails. «I'm not even sure she's aware of what she said.»
«How could she not know she proposed to you?» Lorena frowned.
«She was... I mean we were... and then she... you know.» Astrid stuttered.
«You mean she proposed to you while you were having sex?»
«Yeah. I haven't been able to sleep a wink last night.»
«You know often when they have an orgasm, people can say things they normally wouldn't say or even mean.» Lorena began, until she noticed a flash of deception passing through her best friendâs eyes. «Or it can be the total opposite, and the energy rush they feel at that moment can actually give them the strength to say something they really wanna say but aren't brave enough to say without this.»
«And what am I supposed to do with this?» Astrid sighed frustrated.
«What do you wanna do?» Lorena smiled.
«I... I don't know. I wanna spend the rest of my life with her, that's something I'm sure of, but we never really talk about this, except the day I finally admitted I loved her, and she asked me to not propose to her and now... now she's the one who has kind of done it and my brain is a mess since then.»
«You should talk to her. Communicating efficiently is one of the most important things in a relationship. I was just talking about this with Sam yesterday and...»
«We aren't like Sam and you.»
«What does that mean?»
«That means, though we both know we love each other deeply, we don't need to say it every day. In fact, we barely voiced this kind of feeling since we are together.
